I’ll be frank with you: I don’t know a whole lot about football, but that has never stopped me from partaking in all the activities Sunday football has to offer: yummy snacks, fun games and of course hosting a party! This year I wanted to make sure my guest were entertained during commercials and before and after the game with a fun DIY quarterback throw and football themed SNICKERS® to snack on! You can find the football themed SNICKERS® at your local CVS along with all your other football game needs! So lets kick your tailgate or viewing party up a notch with this easy 5 step DYI quarterback throw that everyone will enjoy!

Materials Needed

  • 6 x 8 Tarp with aluminum grommets
  • Duck Tape (in your team colors)
  • Permanent marker
  • Ruler
  • Scissors
  • Rope
  • Football
  • SNICKERS® bars and Crispers Bars (in case you get hungry)

Step 1: Draw and Cut out

Layout the tarp and decide how many holes you want your quarterback throw to have. I went with four corner diamonds and one square center. Using a permanent marker and a ruler draw out the layout and then cut them out using scissors. My shapes are 20 inches long on the sides.

Step 2: Tape Edges

To prevent the tarp from fraying and to add team color, place duct tape around each shapes edge. You can do this two different ways, option one: place the duct tape around the edges leaving a 1/4 overhang then flip the tarp over and repeat on the other side, taking care to line up excess tape. Option two: place the duct tape around the edges leaving a 1/4 overhang to tape to the opposite side. I prefer option one for aesthetic reason, but option 2 is definitely a time saver!

Step 3: Assign Points to Each Square

Using a permeant marker assign points to each shape! I went with the 10 points for the center, because I feel it’s the easiest to score and then assigned 50 points to the corner diamonds. You can always assign different numbers to all the shapes or keep it consistent, it’s up to you!

Step 4: Hang the tarp

Now it’s time to hang your tarp! I purchased one that already came with aluminum grommets (hanging holes) to make this step easier, but if you can’t find this type of tarp, you can easily add holes to the top corners of the tarp and slide the rope through. I used two pieces of rope to tie the game around two tree trunks for sturdy suspending.

Step 5: Grab a football and play

Now you are all set up to play! Players get points by making the ball through numbered shapes! Make it more challenging by having your players have to close theirs eyes or spin before throwing the ball!

blue gingham top and yellow lace-up shoes | casual street style

blue gingham top

blue gingham top| Top: Zara (in-store) Similar here and here | Jeans: Joe’s | Shoes: Shoedazzle | Purse: Ralph Lauren | Bracelets: Alex and Ani here and here |

Today I’m wearing the cutest gingham top I ever did see! This blue gingham top from Zara caught my eye almost as soon as I walked into the store. (My mind was distracted thanks to the pretzel place next door lol.) I love it because not only does it have 3/4  bell sleeves, but it also has a beautiful pop of red in the front and back. Originally I wanted to pair the top with white jeans, but once I tried it on something didn’t feel right. So I opted for my favorite denim skinny jeans and added an extra pop of color with these gorgeous yellow heels. TRUTH I have these heels in a black print as well because they are serious shoe winners! As for the handbag I went with a true favorite of mine, the mini double zip by Ralph Lauren. This is definitely one of those bags that I grab on a constant basis. From running daily errands to traveling the mini double zip is the perfect any occasion bag.

On a personal note: Is anyone else super excited for halloween? I know it’s a bit early, but my mom has not stopped asking me what she should be for the holiday. She has a big party the weekend of and she wants to go all out. The initial costume idea is a saloon girl, you know the cowgirl bartenders, but maybe she’ll change her mind. I on the other hand promised my sister I would babysit the same day so she could attend her party too. So I’m thinking of dressing up as a pumpkin with my niece and having a halloween movie marathon! Any costume ideas are welcome below!

like always thanks for reading!

Love always, Laura B.
